Mostly a challenge to see if it's possible and a test of how bad it would be (pretty bad). Sure, it's pretty good nutritional value I suppose. I eat lemon with peel, that's fine, but of course always only a part of the fruit.

I gotta be honest, for me Physalis takes exactly like semen smells and so I've only eaten it once. See it occasionally added as a garnish on desserts in UK restaurants.

I'm not exactly a health conscious person, not that I think fruit is necessarily healthy (don't know how it's managed to share veg's rep), and I don't eat much fruit. However I did have a frozen banana for dessert last year for the first time and I thought it was amazing.

My top 2 fruits are the non-fruitlike fruits: avocado and tomato.
I also like strawberries, raspberries, and fresh pineapple. I'll eat other fruits, but most are not my thing. I'd take a vegetable over fruit almost any day of the week.

The worst creation on the globe however is not fruit, but artificial fruit flavor. Whoever invented green apple-flavored anything should be drawn and quartered.

Recently I've been trying various healthy dessert recipes, sweetened with fruit. Is anyone else into healthy desserts, and do you have any favorites?

So far I've tried:
Ice cream (frozen bananas, milk, and vanilla)
Brownies (bananas, almond butter, and cocoa powder)
Chocolate pudding (avocados, dates, bananas, milk, and cocoa powder)

(for those of you who are vegan, I guess the milk can be replaced with almond milk)

you don't even need milk when making banana ice cream. i just blend ripe frozen bananas and coconut meat. delish.

Ripe guava was great, but the seeds, well I swallowed them with water. If they dont digest, they'll help with it
I also tasted fresh dates, well they were soso
And it's not a part of any fruit but cinnamon bark sure tastes good.

I tried without milk and it didn't blend very well, but maybe it depends on the type of blender. I only used a small amount of milk, about 1 tbsp per banana.

I finally got to try an exotic fruit, at least exotic for these parts, it was a persimmon a.k.a kaki, it was very tasty, i liked it a lot, too expensive though, i probably won't be buying them a lot, but i'm glad i tried it

Persimmons are expensive? There are lame astringent variations in winter here that are about as expensive as oranges. Sticking them in the freezer makes them edible. Still barely worth it for me.

When they are in season, I literally have persimmons falling into my garden because the neighbors do not pick their trees.
Some years ago, I bought a fruit picker, so now I go out and harvest a bunch once a year. Then we eat lots of persimmons, and I use the remainder to make persimmon pies and persimmon butter.

I think the Fuyu persimmons are quite tasty.

I just bought a soursop - called a guanábana here; cost over $14 for just over a pound - $28.50 per kg for the metrically inclined - far and away the most expensive fruit I've ever bought if I'm recalling correctly, and I'm much more inclined to experimentation these days so I doubt I ever got something like this when I lived in Chicago and had more choices. Anyway I see a couple of comments here, just wondering if anybody knows how to tell when it's at it's ripest? I guess I'll google some more.

I tried frozen mulberry, bilberry, and lingonberry today.

Mulberry is similar to blackberry but without the hard seeds. Mulberry is my favorite of the three.

Bilberry is similar to blueberry but slightly more sour and I think the taste is also a little stronger. It was good.

I didn't like the lingonberry. It was too sour for me. It's supposed to taste similar to cranberry, but I don't think I've ever eaten unsweetened cranberry, so it's hard to compare.

My granny used to have a mulberry tree and we’d eat them right off it. I don’t even remember what they taste like anymore (been about 16/17 years).

Every time I buy fresh fruit it sucks, so I’ve been buying tinned sliced peaches and I can’t get enough. I’ve gone through two tins this week. Boyfriend is currently obsessed with blueberries, but I don’t like them that much.

This past week I had some pomegranates and dried figs. And lots of mandarin oranges that my wife says were too expensive, but they taste good so I guess it's OK.
I think persimmons are somewhat in season now but I haven't seen any for sale locally.

Same. I'll never forget the taste; my dad made jam out of them and we frequently had a bowl of them hanging around the kitchen. Kind of like a milder-tasting blackberry. I also recall the vivid staining on every part of the ground the berries fell onto. The pavement on that part of the street was chronically purple.

I put dried bilberries in my oatmeal today. I think the frozen bilberries taste better (but they're also more expensive, so I won't be buying them regularly).

My uncle has a mulberry tree, it definitely bore enough fruit once for my mom to get some and make a pie, and I have dim memories of that being pretty great; not sure if the tree is still bearing or even still alive though, and my uncle is one of those guys with EXTREMELY limited tastes so I suspect he's sticking to apple, cherry and pumpkin for his dessert-fruits now. And raspberries for the fresh stuff, he used to have hundreds of raspberry bushes.

As for me, got some jackfruit for the first time in a few months - mostly it hasn't looked good - and it's a good one. I have a curry recipe that I've made with a couple of different fruits before that I think I'm going to try the jackfruit in, I'll post about it if I do.

When I was younger and we’d get apples I would sometimes find one that tasted different form the others and was just a perfect delicious apple. Because it was so rare I thought it was random or maybe it was ‘off’ or something. I don’t buy apples often but I bought a different ‘type’ than usual last week and it was the magical delicious apple. So now I know it’s Royal Gala apples that are the greatest apple and I’ve been having one every morning with breakfast.

We saw dragonfruit (the one that is purple in the center) at the local green grocer last week and picked some up.

To be honest I did not think it was very good as-is. It was a bit "chalky" and lacking sweetness.
We found that adding a tiny bit of honey dramatically improved the flavor.

Was it ripe? When it's ripe, the wings start to wither.

If it's still not sweet enough, you might prefer yellow dragonfruit (yellow on the outside, white on the inside). Yellow is sweeter than purple.

Yes it was definitely ripe. I doubt we will be getting the yellow one any time soon as these sorts of things only turn up randomly.
Towards the end of last year, I spent months looking for brussels sprouts all over, and the only ones I could find were priced ridiculously high at almost $1 each. Then this store turned up some "damaged" ones that were $2 for a whole huge bag of them. I have never seen them at that store again, before or since.
