Two movies, one line

#1

Post by 3eyes » July 26th, 2020, 8:19 pm

New contest in today's Washington Post Style Invitational: Borrow or make up a line that could be used in (or for) two different movies.

Examples:

A line that could be used in both Dirty Dancing and Three men and a baby: "Baby's over there in the corner, guys. One of you should pick her up."

Sex and the City and Mister Rogers' Neighborhood: "Hold on a second - these shoes are killing me."

How you could describe both King Kong and Sleepless in Seattle: "He's top of the Empire State Building with the woman he loves. Will they leave together, or will he get shot down?"

I keep thinking there's a good one for The Shining and White Christmas, but I'm not quite nailing the line. Something about waiting for snow at a scenic inn, and they both have a "Danny" there...

(And many, many, MANY hugs to you, my dear...     )

Likewise! And thanks for attempting to play!

There must be lots of movies involving poster campaigns and such that could use "Stick 'em up!"
Generally the Washington Post Style Invitational is out of my league --I read it faithfully, but couldn't possibly contribute.

For lines that could be used in both movies:

Jaws and Titanic: We're going to need a bigger boat.
The Godfather and The Proposal and Deliverance: I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse.
Wizard of Oz and Seven Years in Tibet: I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.

Or you could go for movie quotes that an unimaginative critic would put in their review for another movie:

"Greed (1924), for lack of a better word, is good."
"I feel the need... the need for Speed (1994)."

Or bad descriptions/taglines for two disparate movies:

Half-Baked and Apollo 13: These guys are going to get REALLY high.
Terminator 2 and Pumping Iron: You are going to see a lot of guns.
The Ring and Birth of a Nation: For everyone's safety, you should not watch this video.
Burden of Dreams and Cannibal Holocaust: Whacky misadventures in the South American rainforests.
Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Passion of the Christ: When a problem comes along, you must whip it.
