In this trial of children with poorly controlled asthma without symptoms of GER who were using inhaled corticosteroids, the addition of lansoprazole, compared with placebo, improved neither symptoms nor lung function but was associated with increased adverse events.

A common misconception is that by skipping breakfast, fewer calories are consumed each day resulting in weight maintenance or weight loss. Although this seems like a cogent argument, you have to understand human biochemistry to realize the inaccuracy of this thought process. Based on studies it is believed skipping the first meal of the day increases the chances of becoming obese or developing other conditions.
exactly, bc it screws up the metabolism. Or if you eat one big meal, it forces the body to digest all the food at once and that is not good. I tried to tell my friend this, but he did not believe this until a doctor told him this...

Doctors change their minds regularly about nutrition. There's a doctor who in the nineties wrote a book about "healthy dieting" and he emphasized the importance of eating carbohydrates. Now he's just written another book on the subject that emphasizes how important it is to stay away from carbohydrates.allisoncm on Jan 25 2012, 03:18:00 PM wrote:exactly, bc it screws up the metabolism. In the seventies it was considered unhealthy to eat potatoes (due to the high carbohydrate content). In the 80s it was okay to eat potatoes as long as you avoided the fatty gravy. Now it's back to not eating potatoes again.
I tend not to take anything doctors say about nutrition too seriously, the fact is that this is still a young field of study and there's so much we don't know yet that it's basically premature to make any kind of firm recommendation as to what to eat and what to avoid.
