Make the longest string of movie titles
Make the longest string of movie titles
New game. Let's make a string of movie titles.
- Someone starts with a random movie title.
- The next person quotes that post and posts a movie title of which the first word is the same as the last word of the previous title.
- This goes on and results in a long string of quotes. Put a number in front of each next title.
- You can't quote yourself. After someone else has posted something, you can post again.
- The string dies when nobody posted in 12 hours. After that anyone can start a new one.
- No titles with only one word.
- English titles of foreign language movies allowed.
- Since titles never end with an article, you can also ignore it as a beginning word (the, a, an). Therefor, a title like "The Godfather" isn't allowed, because it has only one word ignoring "The".
- A title can't be used twice in a single string, but can in another string later on.
- Although nobody can check this, please try to do it from memory and not by randomly browsing titles on iCM.
Got it?
In case you don't understand, here's an example:
joachimt: 1. 12 Angry Men
jvv: 2. Men in Black
Armoreska: 3. The Black Cat
jvv: 4. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
etc...
The point is to work together, so try to pick titles with words that are at least possible as a beginning.
Longest string = 64

I made one last edit to the OP: include a number, so it's easy to see how long the string is.

I was thinking Orient Express (2 versions).
From Joachim's example I gathered that words prefaced by articles (The, A, etc.) are allowed. I'm wondering about foreign equivalents (world: Mondo, Welt, etc.)?
Guess I'll wait for a ruling before I play again.

6. Sea of Love
You mean: would "Welt am draft" be allowed after "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World"?
Let's keep it with English to begin with. If we're getting bored with it, we can always make it harder to include other languages as well.

A homework assignment for the computer scientists on this forum:
In the two-player-game version of "Make the longest string of movie titles", two players are given an arbitrary set of movie titles. There's no limit to the number of unique words. The two players take turns naming movies, until it's impossible to name another movie. The person who cannot name another movie loses.
Prove that this game is PSPACE-complete.

Had to check if a movie with this title exists though, turns out I seen it and it's written together. The other option was the Sherlock Holmes.

But the title is one word. Someone else with Hound? Or continue with Dog. I'm not that strict in this game. It's just silly fun.
