I saw this when it was promoted on the forum a few years back in time for the annual poll.

I did not appreciate it the way others did. It's just so poorly constructed, and didn't even have enough charm for it to be "so bad it's good" to me. 4.2/10

I've been perversely curious about this film for awhile, but I gather there are two different cuts and the shorter one is what I commonly see around the Web....

The shorter the better imo.

The story around the film is more interesting than the movie itself ;)

This is what I hear often about the movie. :D Just makes you too curious though .. the Wiki article is quite something!

It's weird that neither Wiki nor even IMDb list different cuts / alternate versions / run times, as Ebby is clearly right that there was another US cut of the film.
This is a good, although German-languaged :/ article that collects cut scenes from an old (German) cut: Schnittbericht - apparently the US had even more scenes removed. Meh.

On KG, it looks like there is an 84-minute cut and a 101-minute cut shared. And yet Wiki says 98 and IMDb says 95. So...I guess the editing is kinda DIY. About 99 feels good to me.

Even apart from the legendarily troubled and bloody production, this is a completely bonkers movie, as sincere an exploration of anthropomorphism as I've ever seen on screen. Everything is so mind-numbingly ill-advised that the movie feels like some bizarre parody of a snuff film.

I watched it! "Bonkers" is just the term that came to mind for me.
