I don't keep track of that, but probably the US, followed by Japan or France.

I did this "manually" (through IMDb Power Searches) so some of the data might be a little off (i.e. in terms of co-productions being counted for all countries). Still, I think this gives a rough idea of where my viewing stands:

United Statess - 5,369
United Kingdom - 1,713
France - 720
Canada - 460
Italy - 341
Germany - 306
Australia - 263
Japan - 192
Spain - 122
Sweden - 91
Mexico - 84
Belgium - 82
Hong Kong - 77
Netherlands - 69
Denmark - 57
Switzerland - 57
New Zealand - 51
Soviet Union - 48
China - 37
South Korea - 34
Poland - 34
India - 34
Iran - 32

...and a bunch of other countries with between 20 and 30 viewings.

I'm from Australia, but I grew up watching old British comedies on late night TV, so I guess I have always had a bit of an affinity for UK cinema. Not sure what else here would seem out of the ordinary. Canada is definitely boosted by me watching over 160 films between two Official Challenges that I both won. Italy is probably largely boosted by my interest in horror and with Sweden, over a third of that is purely films by Ingmar Bergman.

Done by Advanced Search on imdb, so some movies count several countries. Only features (don't know if that excludes docs).

USA then Japan, which would both be over 2500. I’ve been counting the amount from broader Chinese cinema and I’m currently at 1156, though there may be some I’ve missed in that number.

Feature-length films only, based on my own spreadsheet (following a one country/territory per film rule), as of Dec 31st.

Out of 2960 films

1507 - USA (51% - soon I'll be below 50. I'm pretty sure when I first started using icm/participating in this forum, I was well over 75% American films)
212 - UK (7%)
179 - Canada (6%)
153 - France (5%)
70 - Japan (2.5%)
53 - Germany (including films from both West Germany and East Germany, though I'm thinking of separating out the latter)
50 - Russia (including films from the Soviet Union, but excluding those made by studios now based in other post-Soviet countries)
39 - Spain
38 - India
33 - Italy
31 - Australia
Between 10 and 25 Films SeenShow
24 - China
21 - Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, Mexico, Sweden
20 - Poland
18 - Croatia, Hong Kong
16 - Czechia, Ireland, South Korea

14 - Austria, Iran
13 - Hungary, Norway
12 - New Zealand
11 - Finland, Greece, Netherlands
10 - Egypt, Indonesia, Romania, Taiwan

9 - Malaysia
8 - Israel, Portugal, Thailand
7 - Chile, Iceland, Senegal, Serbia, Switzerland
6 - Cuba, Philippines, Turkey, Vietnam
5 - Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Colombia, Kenya, Singapore
4 - Georgia, Lebanon, Mali, South Africa, Ukraine, Venezuela
3 - Bolivia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Peru, Sri Lanka
2 - Armenia, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Palestine, Slovakia, Slovenia, Syria, Tunisia, UAE, Uruguay
1 - Angola, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Benin, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Chad, Costa Rica, Dominican Rep., Ethiopia, Greenland, Guatemala, Guinea, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan
And some visualizations because I like doing those.

Pink countries are those I haven't seen any (feature-length) film from yet, but I have one or more available to me. Grey countries will be harder to find.

Pretty typical breakdown for a relatively new cinephile, I think. I'm Canadian, so I've seen more films from there than would be expected. Perhaps the same with France, since a lot of those films were easily accessible growing up.

For me, unsurprisingly, it's the USA with 3,014 titles.

Next up is the UK with 1,294, followed by France with 1,088.

That's including everything, such as shorts and TV and co-productions - so these bare numbers mightn't be all that accurate.
That's all, folks!

Based on Letterboxd data which means coproductions count multiple times, out of 1730 films (shorts included I think). Looking at the data, it's not as indicative as I'd hope because of that, I'll have to try to collect my own data somewhere.

IMDb based on feature films. I didn't have documentary checked because it counted a bunch of shorts and because it includes Samsara which IMDb counts for so many countries. And there are 167 smaller film "countries" on IMDb that I did not attempt to see the results because that would take up so much time. Some countries would appear higher if I combine their old names and their new name.

Lots of U.S. titles no matter how you slice it, I do admit I gorge on the stuff, especially with horror films. I'm a bit surprised Canada isn't #2 for me, I thought it would beat the U.K. hands down. I stand corrected...

Sorry, was going to attach an XLS file but they aren't allowed (because of macros maybe?) Why does posting attachments have to be so gd difficult on this forum? For some reason the first attempt crashed my browser and only a reboot seems to have helped. Now I try a CSV, file, but have to go back an re-edit to remove commas in names of countries like Korea, South with something of a hope anyone who might be interested can open the file and see the data in nice, neat columns.

In trying to make a file that could actually, in theory, be uploaded to the forum, forgot what I was so going to say about it, so fuck it.

Again, why does posting attachments have to be so damn difficult?!?

Everything 100+

Sadly this data includes co-productions, so it's a bit messy, with some countries being over-represented. Germany in particular is a bit surprising, since I'm not a big fan of German cinema and haven't seen that many primarily German productions. They're often co-financing it seems though. Japan on the other hand is pretty insular, so that number is more realistic.

01. 4150 - 47.72% | USA
02. 1662 - 19.11% | Japan
03. 1200 - 13.80% | Hong Kong
04. 0887 - 10.20% | UK
05. 0605 - 06.96% | France
06. 0558 - 06.42% | China
07. 0434 - 04.99% | Canada
08. 0345 - 03.97% | Germany
09. 0173 - 01.99% | Taiwan
10. 0158 - 01.82% | Spain
11. 0146 - 01.68% | Australia
12. 0141 - 01.62% | Italy
13. 0122 - 01.40% | Belgium
14. 0106 - 01.22% | Netherlands
15. 0103 - 01.18% | South Korea

I think it's the file size more than file type that prevents them from being uploaded.

For what it's worth, I was able to download and open your file without a problem.

Yeah, but don't forget to look at my intro. The thing with China/HK is that they have MANY co-productions, so there are quite a few doubles there.

Did a manual SQL check and I have seen "only" 1421 films in total from these three countries combined.

Yeah, that was my second thought but if so, 3kb being over limit would simply be farcical. But most of the time, size is an annoying problem and I believe I've seen both 50mb and 15mb limits applied though I don't understand when and why the difference.

Not really sure why the interface crashed during the file selection, but it wasn't happen when I tried to switch from suggested file types to all files. That on a recently hard-booted machine seemed very strange, but then I noticed a very long list of "acceptable" file types. No idea if this bothered Chrome or not.

Thanks for letting me know it opened - hope the data displayed correctly if anyone was interested. :)

Haha sorry for bad english wording. English isn't my native language. I've seen 99,99% from Belgium too. I think I saw one movie from France and one from Austria and that's it.

You're English writing was just fine Lakgigar :) Armo's just teasing.

But, thinking of the question that way has me curious. I think it would be roughly as such for me:
~64% Malaysia
~30% Canada
~1% Spain
~1% Croatia
~2% Kazakhstan
~1% on international flights between countries
~1% other countries (mainly Kenya, France, USA, & Estonia, possibly a few others).
I've seen films in theatres in all of those countries except the US.

Feature-length films only, based on my own spreadsheet (following a one country/territory per film rule), as of Dec 31st.

Out of 2960 films

1507 - USA (51% - soon I'll be below 50. I'm pretty sure when I first started using icm/participating in this forum, I was well over 75% American films)
212 - UK (7%)
179 - Canada (6%)
153 - France (5%)
70 - Japan (2.5%)
53 - Germany (including films from both West Germany and East Germany, though I'm thinking of separating out the latter)
50 - Russia (including films from the Soviet Union, but excluding those made by studios now based in other post-Soviet countries)
39 - Spain
38 - India
33 - Italy
31 - Australia
Between 10 and 25 Films SeenShow
24 - China
21 - Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, Mexico, Sweden
20 - Poland
18 - Croatia, Hong Kong
16 - Czechia, Ireland, South Korea
15 - Belgium
14 - Austria, Iran
13 - Hungary, Norway
12 - New Zealand
11 - Finland, Greece, Netherlands
10 - Egypt, Indonesia, Romania, Taiwan

9 - Malaysia
8 - Israel, Portugal, Thailand
7 - Chile, Iceland, Senegal, Serbia, Switzerland
6 - Cuba, Philippines, Turkey, Vietnam
5 - Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Colombia, Kenya, Singapore
4 - Georgia, Lebanon, Mali, South Africa, Ukraine, Venezuela
3 - Bolivia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Peru, Sri Lanka
2 - Armenia, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Palestine, Slovakia, Slovenia, Syria, Tunisia, UAE, Uruguay
1 - Angola, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Benin, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Chad, Costa Rica, Dominican Rep., Ethiopia, Greenland, Guatemala, Guinea, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan
And some visualizations because I like doing those.
Pie chart and MapShow

Pink countries are those I haven't seen any (feature-length) film from yet, but I have one or more available to me. Grey countries will be harder to find.
Image
Pretty typical breakdown for a relatively new cinephile, I think. I'm Canadian, so I've seen more films from there than would be expected. Perhaps the same with France, since a lot of those films were easily accessible growing up.
And I hit exactly 50% American films yesterday. Only 10 of the 74 films (13.5%) I've seen so far this year have been American.
1517/3034 feature-length films
Updated Pie chartShow
Reorganized the pie chart to only included countries (almost) at 1% or higher, and not look at regions.
Biggest changes since the start of the year is India passing Spain (thanks to Mubi) and me deciding to split East Germany out as a separate entry (but Germany/West Germany is still ahead of Russia/Soviet Union).
China will surpass 1% for sure in a few months, and of the next 5 I think only Sweden has a chance to hit it this year, as there's a lot of Bergman I've got lined up to see. Still, 10+ films in a year for a smaller country is a lot for me, so we'll see.
