Is this the first time a movie was picked that I didn't vote for?

I've seen it over four years ago. Don't really remember it. Judging on my rating, I wasn't impressed back then. 6/10

This is the first time that a film has appeared that you didn't either nominate or actually voted for to be in the 500<400. You did not nominate Flicka och hyacinter (1950) or The Silent Partner (1978), but you did vote for them to be in the 500<400.

I enjoyed this film. It's a typical film that can be expected from Luchino Visconti (extravagant sets and a 2 hour plus runtime) and Giancarlo Giannini (playing the lead role as a ladies' man/womanizer). The first half moved too slow for my liking and I kept waiting for some climax or plot twist to move the story forward. Luckily, I didn't have any problem with the pacing for the second half of the film. As an aside, I might have liked the film less if I didn't find Giancarlo Giannini attractive in this because there were numerous close ups of his face that it could have been annoying for others if they don't feel the same way  Almost every shot in this film was a close up of a face, room with glamorous decor, room with people sitting for a show, or outside of a grand building. I don't have a problem with the direction style of this film, but it was rather repetitive. Overall, I still liked it. 7/10
