Herzog - 47 (including a few shorts)

And I enjoyed every single one of them. Haven't yet seen a bad film from the man.

Don't remember if I ever posted here, I'm only including feature films. (name in bold means I've seen them all)

1. Buñuel, Luis (30)
According this iCM filmography, he made 34 movies. Is it incorrect? Bunuel is one of the directors whose filmographies I intend to complete, so I'd like to know whether I need to look for those 4 or if it's an error of some sort.

He even made 35 according to IMDB (the one missing from the ICM list is El Vaticano de Pio XII (1940) an unavailable short).

Keep in mind I only included feature films, so I'm excluding Las Hurdes, Un chien andalou and Simon from my total. So his filmography is 31 feature films and 4 shorts. The only one I'm missing is ¿Quién me quiere a mí? (1936) (no subs). Some of his french work might also lack English subs, I haven't checked.

And if it's of any use, here's my complete ranking :)

What is more interesting that this (to me) is what your most checked director that doesn’t have a famous film (not sure what a good criteria is, probably nothing over 100 checks or perhaps 400 checks). Anyone got an interesting one for this criteria?

I watched the movies that I was missing since my last post here (huge thanks to PoA). They were very hard to sit because how bad they were though lol.
The only titles missing are Like a Dragon: Prologue, The Third Gangster and Waru: kanketsu-hen which are impossible to find anywhere online I guess.

Interesting idea - not an easy thing to figure out unless you keep pretty detailed stats of the kind that apply here, which I don't. So this is just messing around; first number is the number of films seen, with () being the number of feature-length films

8 (7) - Jon Jost - most checked film is Last Chance for a Slow Dance with 265, on 3 official lists, others I've seen range from 5-65.

7 (4) - Mark Rappaport - most check film is Exterior Night with 136, on 1 official list (along with several others). The other 6 films I've seen range from 11-128 checks.

5 (5) - Bahram Beizai - most checked film is Bashu, gharibeye koochak with 157, it's also his film on the most official lists (3). The five films I've seen range from 17-44 checks.

5 (4) - Amir Naderi - most checked film is Davandeh with 119, on 3 official lists. The other 4 I've seen range from 4-34 checks.

5 (3) - Ebrahim Golestan - most checked film is Khesht va Ayeneh at 333, on 2 official lists. The other 4 I've seen range from 2-16 checks.

4 (2) - Jonas Mekas RIP - most checked film is As I Was Moving Ahead... with 300, on 6 official lists. The others I've seen range from 60-251 checks.

3 (3) - Mohammad Rasoulof - most checked film is Dast-neveshtehaa nemisoosand with 61, the other two I've seen have 50 and 61, and only one of his films is on any official lists.

3 (3) - Henry Barakat - most checked film is Doa al karawan with 146, on 3 official lists. The other two I've seen have 36 checks apiece.

That's what I get going through my favorite directors list. All either middle eastern or American independent/experimental directors. I didn't include anybody who worked primarily or exclusively in short forms, i.e. Jordan Belson who I've seen around 10 films from. There might be some more but a lot of the relatively obscure directors that I've seen several films for have at least 1 or 2 better known films - Sally Potter for example.

I'm sure tons of people here would have much longer lists with bigger numbers - you, onderhond and Punq for example, and of course you beat me by a mile with Jost.

So did you see them all with English subs. If so, I didn't even realize a film like A Human Murder Weapon was available subbed :)

It's tied at 29 between Hitchcock and Scorsese.

Herzog - 47 (including a few shorts)

And I enjoyed every single one of them. Haven't yet seen a bad film from the man.
Same! Every last feature and short. Nothing I haven't seen.

Martin Scorsese. Plus, I've rewatched Taxi Driver, Goodfellas and Raging Bull countless times. I've also rewatched Cape Fear, Bringing Out the Dead and Casino but nowhere near as much as the big three.

John Carpenter: 13 feature films --> 13 films
Charles Band: 12 feature films --> 12 films
Jan Svankmajer: 2 feature films / 9 short films --> 11 films
Lucio Fulci: 11 feature films --> 11 films
Wes Craven: 11 feature films --> 11 films
Steven Spielberg: 11 feature films --> 11 films
Dario Argento: 10 feature films --> 10 films
Ousmane Sembene: 7 feature films / 1 short film --> 8 films

It's not really a goal of mine to complete any filmography. The only filmographies I want to complete are the ones of Charles Band and Ousmane Sembene.
