rokp thinks a backlog of 100 is huge, I don't. Let's find out what our backlogs look like. Your backlog consists of all movies, shorts, series etc... stored on your computer, harddiscrecorder or whatever device you put them on and all dvd's which you haven't watched yet. (mini)series count as 1.
How many do you have at this moment?

I have a watchlist of nearly 1000
But actual backlog that I have stored somewhere is under 100. I cleared up completely last year, now have let it grow again a bit, but trying to keep it sane!

Over 2000
That's just feature films. I have a few mini-series and shorts stockpiled too.

Of my downloads I have about 450 unwatched, and I have about 100 each in my queues on Netflix and Hulu. Then I have several hundred owned DVDs that I haven't watched. I may have underestimated by backlog - I chose 601-750, but should have chosen the next bracket up.
Erm, about 60 unwatched titles on my laptop hard drive. A couple of dozen more if you count all the short films from a certain collection individually. Can't bother counting how many titles on my external hard drives, but I'd guess about the same amount. And then there are several DVDs but not really a notable amount of them (not very keen of collecting physical discs).

I thought you meant films in digital form so I voted 1-25. But I have about 150 unseen films on either DVD or BD.
On DVD alone i have >1500

1,000+ but I've been downloading less and watching more recently. And I'll most likely delete most of the newish Hollywood crap I have.

67 downloaded movies + 7 DVR'd movies + 7 DVDs from the library = 81 in my backlog
Plus I have links for two movies on my computer (1 YouTube and 1 Archive.org). I also have my list of 1980s movies that I can mostly get through my library.

Oh, man... I wasn't even thinking of my Netflix queues when I answered the question..I was just thinking of drive + DVD (= maybe 800-900). I have five maxed-out queues of 500 apiece, plus a full streaming queue with some overlaps. I love the thought that I'll never run put of films (even if quite a few turn out to be crap)!

Hmm, did a quick inventory and seems I was about right - about 140 films in total (again, not counting shorts of TV series).
I really have no idea how Netflix works, so I didn't mention it in the original post. Isn't queuing in Netflix about the same as saving a youtube-link? Or is Netflix more reliable that the movie is still there when you want to watch it? And do you pay for it?

I have around 130 films on my seedbox that I didn't watch yet. I do have a film wishlist on RYM which is 429 but it's not that high priority so I dunno if that counts as a backlog.
My father didn’t have the skill of a professional cameraman. The result? Avant-garde cinema.
My wishlist contains mostly unavailable movies or movies without available subs. A lot of those last ones I already got in my backlog, but I didn't count them, 'cause they are unwatchable to me.

Hm, about a hundred unwatched KG downloads, another 60 on a list of stuff I want to download. Netflix queues are hard to gauge - some I don't really want to see, some are rewatches, some NF only pretends to have, etc. So I've checked 150-200, but I suppose I could get up above 500 if I think of all the movies I might be watching in the next year or two.

Purely by the number of movies I am currently seeding in uTorrent

I have definitely more than 1500 feature films that I haven't seen yet. It's a rough estimation based on the volume of the full hard drives and dvds (full of .avi files) I have.
I've been digitally hoarding for years. Nowadays I'm more controlled, unless there is a challenge involved...
I couldn't count my watchlist because for ages I kept it handwritten in papers I've been filling up for ages and there are thousands of films in there, many of which I'll never find.
I'm amazed by how controlled you people are!

When I first saw this thread I thought "Oh yeah maybe like 25, the ones I just bought during the latest round of internet sales" and then I go through the thread and then I realize I have downloaded films and Netflix/Hulu Plus queues. So without Netflix/Hulu Plus queues I'm probably at 350 but with them probably 1400 or so. Doesn't help that I've been pretty lax in my viewing the last 2 months.

About 900 on my hard drive and 175 on DVD/BD so at least 1075 on my backlog.

I'd say 100-120 on my harddrive(s), about 100 more on DVD/BD and another 100 in my Lovefilm queue (the only good Netflix like service we have here in Germany, imho).
So, let's say around 300 overall. And it gets more all the time.
So, let's say around 300 overall. And it gets more all the time.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.
I'd estimate around 1,000 unwatched DVDs/BDs, 100 or so unwatched KG downloads, and a little over 300 movies in my Netflix queue. Plus about 10 recorded off of TCM.
I haven't been watching very much as of late, so my backlog is just getting bigger rather than shrinking.

You know, I actually don't have much of a backlog at all anymore. Sure, I got around 100 films on my harddrive, but a lot of that are FTs. Kinda freeing.
If I want to see a movie that isn't in my backlog, I just add it to my backlog.

Around 500. I think ideally it should be under 300, but 100 is not so much. I want to keep my backlog big enough to still be surprised by it and always find something right for any moment. From my DVD collection I have about 30-50 unseen.
I'm not counting, so these are only projections.

I will never understand the fear of a big backlog. This past year I hear from some 3 or 4 guys I know that they won't join torrent websites because they don't want to be tempted to grow a backlog. I sat stunned.
Is it possible these people would rather remember a film they have been meaning to check out and still not have it than the other way around? It makes no sense.

300 on HDD, 620 on IMDb's Watchlist. Also have lots of saved IMDb search results I can't count.
I'll just say 1000-1500
I'll just say 1000-1500
Not sure about anyone else, but I have 3-4,000 movies to check on iCM alone, so the total on my watchlist is over 8,000. But my backlog is also huge too. I have a spreadsheet with links and columns for different libraries / "video" stores and I make a note if the film is available/lost, etc.
I'm too lazy to count so I don't know exactly, but probably somewhere between 200 and 300.
that's what spreadsheets are for
About 2000 unwatched movies on my hard drives.
