Freddie Jones dies at age 91

David Lynch's Twitter alerted me to this. He's probably best known for his appearances in Lynch's films (as the ringmaster in The Elephant Man, the weird guy at the bar in Wild at Heart talking to Nicolas Cage about how "pigeons spread diseases"). I didn't realize until reading his obituary that he is the father of actor Toby Jones.

Jim Bouton, probably best known in these parts for his totally random appearance in The Long Goodbye, the 1973 Altman/Gould tribute to hardboiled fiction. He also did some other things.

Denise Nickerson, ‘Willy Wonka’ Actress, Dead at 62

https://www.imdb.com/news/ni62545635?ref_=nm_nwr1

Denise Nickerson, best known for playing the snobby, gum-chomping Violet Beauregarde in the 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, has died following a series of medical issues. The actress’ family confirmed her death in a Facebook post, writing, “She’s gone.” Nickerson was 62.

Nickerson suffered a “major medical emergency” at home on Monday, followed by seizures and both pulmonary and respiratory distress. She was admitted to the intensive unit of a Colorado hospital, where doctors also discovered that she had aspirated and developed pneumonia.

She also had a minor role in the Bruce Dern movie Smile. Half-tempted to watch that one again to try to spot her.

Someone on Facebook shared this goofy clip of Nickerson, post-Wonka. Could. Not. Be. More. 70s.
