I'm actually a bit surprised with how the voting turned out. I was hoping for some fourth places, but not as many as I've seen. I always thought that even if the film was lost in translation, the sheer beauty of the framing (as you said, every shot is mesmerizingly perfect) would be enough to pull it through. It seems it wasn't

It's been two days since I watched all. And whenever I thought of the rankings, I came up with different combinations each time. That's how I equally liked these films. All are "Good" films (but nothing broke the "favorite" threshold for me, though). Thanks to all the managers involved.

This current ranking is what I have in my mind right now, and might change in the very next minute. Ideally, I should vote at the very last minute possible but the chance of me coming here before deadline again is very slim so I'm going with this rank right now.

One of the closest rounds ever for me. Solid choices, but I wasn't super impressed by any of the films, while all had their distinct advantages. I have an easpecially hard time ranking the Georgian and the Portugese film, as they are really similar in nature, althoguh one with a likeable and the other one with an unlikable protagonist.

1. Wo zhe yang guo le yi sheng / Kuei-mei, a Woman - 7/10: Nice story about a rather strong willed woman and her family story. 7/10
2. Recordações da Casa Amarela: Poetical film about a loner, who is a quite a cynical asshole drifing through life, in the search of some meaning and a bit guided by his libido. Has some essay film touches, which I always greatly appreciate, as well as the sarcastic tone of the thing. 7/10
3. Pirosmani: Story about a likeable outsider artist that drifts a bit through life, just wanting to leave a bit of a legacy. Very striking mis-en-scene, fitting for a film about a painter. 6.5/10
4. Le grand voyage: This story about a boy driving his father to a pilgrimmiage to Mecca was a bit formulaic, but still solidly executed. The groth in character didn't feel very earnest, but rather because that's what a film has to do at such points. 6.5/10
