The Beatles - Abbey Road
5/10
What to say about this. I've listened it once and never returned to it. I've listened it again. To be fair, it's like I can't remember a single song. It's so forgettable, cheesy and utterly dated. Perhaps they were a great influence for music later on, but they do not interest me. I never get the feeling I should care about them. Some songs are better than others. I see potential in I want you which is probably the most experimental/psychedelic song out of the album, but I don't think i'll remember a single song out of this album after today.
I gave it 7/10 last time. I downgrade it to 5/10 which makes it tied for worst album i've ever listened together with a The Black Eyed Peace album. Although to be fair, i'll re-listen a lot of albums and changed my rating system this year.
Some people say that i need to look at this at a time perspective. If this was released today, it wouldn't get a 5, more like a 2 and to be fair no-one would listen it, no music label would even dare to publish it. But they certainly have a valid point in that you have to consider time in it, and while that's hard to do. You can't completely indulge into a decade and somehow forget all your later influences, The Doors already proved that you could make AMAZING music during that age. So I believe I would've preferred other bands (the doors, black sabbath, jimi hendrickx, perhaps janis joplin). I also think theoretically The Rolling Stones should suit me better but perhaps their albums are even worse. Either way, not a fan, never will be a fan.
