Stephen Chow, Jim Carrey, Sion Sono.

Is any one of those involved? Or is this more in the direction of Pixar?

Is that the German cinematic masterpiece which roughly translates as "The Hard" (I believe it was "Die Hard" in the original language).

Yes. You should watch Die Hard. It's the Christmas tradition of my wife and I. And counts for the Action challenge this month, if you're interested in that. :whistling:

Nah, not ready to join the regiment. I only participate in ballot-DtC or Horror months.

But you're in the right genre. Moreover, the film you're looking for is also part of a film series, but not #1.

Moreover the on-crap crap-text has to be taken quite literally down-to-earth.

Tom Cruise/10 famously did this shit himself.

Kill Bill, Vol. 1

Never knew before it was an Isaac Hayes composition which plays during that moment in the film. Good track.

That's a direct "Golgo 13" reference as well, innit?

I was tempted to go for 'Wanted''s curved bullets, but that film is too crappy to deserve a crap.

So here's something more dangerous than bullets:

Seeing 'Golgo 13' I certainly thought so. And it's probably not a total coincidence that Sonny Chiba (Hattori Hanzo in 'Kill Bill') starred as Golgo 13/Duke Togo in a 1977 live action adaptation of the manga, which I haven't seen but QT is more likely to have seen the 70's live action B-movies than to have seen the animated ones or to have read the manga. So he could have gotten it from those films maybe, not that super skilled assassins would be uncommon in the type of films QT loves, it could have been influenced by other ones just as well, I guess (I haven't seen 'Golgo 13' and 'Golgo 13: Queen Bee' in a long time to know how similar it might be to a scene in one of those films in its details, so...). Anyway, the Japanese animators who actually made the sequence in question I'd assume had quite a bit of creative control, so maybe they were influenced by the 1983 film specifically with some of their (stylistic) choices.

I'm not sure what I'm looking at there. Is it another Tom Cruise/10?

In both assassinations the murdered rich happily-grimacing man is surrounded by two females coming on to him, and the POV-traced bullet makes its way right through his forehead. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a common trope, but, as you said, most likely the animators in 'Kill Bill' know 'Golgo 13' very well, and it's certainly something that looks like a QT-favourite.

My first crap took place outside the building at high altitude, with the grey-ish low opacity contours and objects being meant to be located inside the building. This next one is in the same location, but on the inside, and sometime later:

I considered mentioning that while the scene is in the script, it's of course missing many of the details, maybe most notably the whole POV bullet thing and no hole in the head but instead "He's laughing as the TOP OF HIS HEAD is BLOWN OFF".
And I think the only named anime (or "japamation", as he calls it) as a style reference is unsurprisingly 'Speed Racer',which was the first successful "japamation" in the US.

The Cabin in the Woods?
