Watchlisted.
Just watched it. It's beautiful indeed, especially the first half. I'll definitely support this with a 6 in the DtC-poll.

Huge rating-difference:
MUBI: 4.1 stars
Moviemeter: 2.65 stars
(both on a 5 star scale)
On Moviemeter YUME says: "boring, ugly, annoying, feckless characters, cliche slow meaningless images"
How the hell can he think it's ugly?

Although this is partially a case of false advertising. It's more of a character study and is more dialogue oriented.

Might as well include Siddheshwari since it recently made the DtC list. The cinematography in Mani Kaul's films are among the best I've ever seen.

Some highlights from my silent film adventure. Almost done with 1922 for my top 10. Only 3 more years and I'll be done with that decade. Then it's late 30s and early-mid 40s (so basically WW2 fucked up cinema)

The British Documentary Film Movement has so many great gems. Definitely the genre I look into the most for 30s cinema. The cinematography can also be fucking mindblowing. Not to mention that they are so ahead of their time in terms of music (The Face of Britain had industrial music, and Night Mail had a guy rapping).

Not a big fan of Yuri Ilyenko. However, he did manage to hold my interest with his 1971 effort - "The White Bird Marked with Black" (https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/bil ... idznakoyu/). Any newcomer to Ilyenko would probably be best advised to start here.

The quality wasn't THAT bad either, but yes it is a shame about the subs.

But the great John Waters did say this: I hate it when people say 'I hate subtitles.' I love 'em. Even white subtitles in snow movies I like.

It's a slasher called Love Massacre what did you expect?

There is no point, or any moments of joy in life... So what's the point in watching "feel-good" films anyways.

Just watched it because of Art's screenshots.

Great images, there's beauty in decay, but it does feel more like a photo book or a screensaver than a movie at times.

Still, in the end it still ended up a low favorite. 8/10
